A repair-first process
- Record where and when water appears
- Inspect the roof material and age
- Check tiles or sheets around the suspected zone
- Review flashings, valleys and penetrations
- Identify immediate and contributing defects
- Define materials, access and exclusions
- Complete and document the agreed repair
Water can travel
Internal stains may sit away from the external entry point. Water can follow battens, rafters, sarking or a roof junction before becoming visible, so diagnosis should not rely on the ceiling mark alone.
Repair is not automatically restoration
A single broken tile or local flashing defect may need focused work. Broader restoration becomes relevant when multiple roof components or widespread ageing require a coordinated scope.
